BREAD, BREASTS, BRUSSEL SPROUTS...

BUBBLES, BOOGERS, BIRTHDAYS, B, B, B...yes the B's just keep on coming. I felt like we should have written our own ABC book yesterday.

AND that we should have eaten Brown Butter Balsalmic Bow Tie Pasta. We didn't, but we had our fair share of B's to go around.

We survived the crazy day of yesterday! Thank goodness. The [little one] is getting more teeth and is still sick. She will be 1 next week and I have been trying to wean her (from my Breast) for about a month and a half with no success! The last 2 weeks i have been a human pacifier and have nursed her more now than when she was 6 months old. OH THE JOYS! Oh well, motherhood right? Hopefully we will have more success once she feels better and her teeth come in.

Yesterday felt like it would not end. We were up early, didn't sleep well, didn't feel well. Our noses were running like faucets, so there were plenty of Boogers to go around at our house.  I got the things done that I wanted to do, but you know how there are days when the smallest task just seems to take an eternity. Yep that was the day! I vacuumed the house...IT TOOK FOREVER! I made Bread, which is amazing and worth the work, but i felt like i did dishes ALL day long, and then still had to make dinner. The dinner dishes sat in the sink right up until i went to bed. Yesterday i wished the spell from Bedknobs and Broomsticks actually worked and  my dishes would just do themselves (I had to tell you this but Substitutiary Locomotion doesn't work....I even sat there and chanted "Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee"...NO SUCCESS. Next time maybe. :)

The other night [the man] was getting ready to do the dishes and knowing that he doesn't really enjoy that chore, I told him I would do them if he ran [the little one] a Bath. A little while later he starts yelling from upstairs for me to come and "help" him with something. I run up there to find... BUBBLES! He had given [the little one] her first Bubble Bath. She was in Heaven. All smiles with a Bubble hat and clothes and her daddy. She loved it!

Speaking of [the man], it is his Birthday today! I can't even begin to explain how much i love him and how grateful i am for him! He is an amazing Father, Friend, and Husband. He is hardworking, respectful, loving, and honest! I LOVE HIM and am so happy he was Born and that he is MINE. (I get to make a Birthday Cake as soon as i am done with this post.)

[The little one's] Birthday is next week, so i am trying to come up with ideas for a photo shoot and a cake smash...SO EXCITED! I got a giant lollipop today that i might use...

I feel like i am Babbling today, but a lot happened, like this Bread! Like i said, AMAZING and so easy. (it really was an easy recipe, i was just moving really slow yesterday.)

A Beautiful sight! All ready to be put in the oven!

My house smelled heavenly!...that is, until i roasted Brussel sprouts!

I could have eaten this whole pan, by myself, but I saved some for [the man]. The [little one] spit them out...oh well, more for me! :)

I absolutely love roasted vegetables. As a kid i thought that Brussel sprouts were the most disgusting thing in the entire world. You know the over steamed, stinky mushy little Balls, that had that weird bitter after taste. YUCK! But when you roast theses Babies, WOW WEEE. They are AMAZING!

If you haven't tried them, you really need to.

One last picture for today of (my no longer) Baby. She is helping me clean. Such a good girl.

Hope you all have had a great week so far! These recipes really are wonderful! Give them a try and let me know how they go!

ENJOY!

HALL'S WHOLE WHEAT BREAD

(thank you hall family for letting me share your bread recipe!)

INGREDIENTS

5 1/2 cups hot water or preferably milk
2/3 cup olive oil
2/3 cup honey or molasses
2 tbs salt
4 eggs (for more protein and better texture)
1/3 c. Mother's Best dough enhancer ( or wheat gluten)
2 TBS active dry yeast (Saf is best)
12 cups whole wheat flour (it's best if you grind it yourself)

INSTRUCTIONS

Combine hot water, salt, honey, 2-3 eggs & oil & whip on medium. in mixing bowl .
Add yeast & dough enhancer.
Mix in 6 cups flour to make batter THICK (like a cake mix)
I add several different seeds to the bread, approximately ¼ c. of each
Gloden & brown flax
Quinoa
Millett
Chia
Sunflower seeds
Actually any seeds your family likes.

Let set for 10-20 min., allowing whole wheat to absorb liquid for lighter dough.

***Whole wheat absorbs more water than white flour and it is very easy to add too much flour before you realize it, thus making your dough too stiff.

Add remaining flour gradually just until dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl if using a bread maker, then turn on kneading cycle.
If mixing by hand add just enough flour to hold dough together, keeping a soft dough. Knead until smooth and pliable..

***Let it rise for 30 min .

Divide dough into 2 -4 parts, depending on the size of your pans.
Roll out each part with a rolling pin to get out any bubbles, or knead and shape into loafs.
Shape into loaves and put into oiled bread pans.
Let Rise for about 30 minutes until the dough has reached the top of the pan.
Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

***Be careful not to over-bake.

Brush tops with butter when you pull the bread out of the oven.

I use the Blend Tec wheat grinder and the Blend Tec mixer/blender. These are great and the mixer does all the work of mixing and kneading.

I use WHITE Winter Wheat. This wheat is a lighter texture and holds together well.

(the wheat grinding is from the original recipe. i just used whole wheat flour and it turned out great!)

ROASTED BRUSSEL SPROUTS

INGREDIENTS

Brussel Sprouts
Olive Oil
Salt
Pepper
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Paprika

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

Cut Brussel Sprouts in half.

Put in large mixing bowl. Add enough Olive Oil to coast with a thin layer.

Sprinkle with Seasonings.

Place on Greased Cookie Sheet inside down. Don't over crowd the pan.

Place in oven for about 20 minutes. Brussel sprouts get really good when the outside leaves get  crispy, so i like to cook mine right up until they look like they will start to char a bit on the very outside leaf. So keep checking them and let cook to this point.

Most vegetables can be roasted in a smililar manner. Cook at a high temperature in a single layer . Some require more time and stirring during the cooking process, but it really brings out the flavor in them.

What are your favorite Roasted Veggies?
